Garo Bags Excellence Award as Inuwa Waya, Islamic Scholars Reaffirm Partnership for Kano’s Development

Kano, June 3, 2026 – The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Murtala Sule Garo, has received an Award of Excellence from the Association of Qur’anic Memorizers in Nigeria in recognition of his longstanding support and commitment to the advancement of Islamic education and the welfare of its members.

The award was presented during a courtesy visit by a former governorship aspirant in Kano State, Alhaji Inuwa Waya, who led the leadership of the association to the Deputy Governor’s office.

The recognition is seen as a testament to Garo’s sustained engagement with religious organisations and community-based initiatives aimed at promoting moral values, education and social development across Kano State.

Presenting the award, the association commended the Deputy Governor for his unwavering support to Qur’anic scholars and memorizers over the years, describing him as a leader who has consistently demonstrated concern for the growth of religious institutions and the empowerment of their members.

Responding, Garo expressed deep appreciation for the honour bestowed on him, describing the award as both humbling and inspiring.

He paid glowing tribute to Alhaji Inuwa Waya, whom he described as a trusted friend, political associate and committed stakeholder in the collective effort to advance Kano State’s development agenda.

According to the Deputy Governor, his relationship with Inuwa Waya dates back to 2021, when both men began working closely on initiatives aimed at promoting political stability, economic growth, religious harmony and social progress in the state.

Garo noted that sustainable development can only be achieved through collaboration among political leaders, community influencers, religious scholars and other stakeholders, stressing that the shared vision for a prosperous Kano remains a guiding principle in their engagements.

The Deputy Governor reaffirmed the commitment of the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to policies and programmes that improve the lives of citizens, strengthen institutions and promote inclusive development across the state.

In a related development, Garo also received members of the Campaign Council of Hon. Yusuf Aliyu Tumfafi on a separate courtesy visit.

Discussions during the meeting focused on strengthening unity within the party, promoting cohesion among stakeholders and enhancing cooperation among party leaders to consolidate the gains already recorded in Kano State.

The Deputy Governor emphasized the importance of dialogue, mutual respect and teamwork in sustaining the party’s success and ensuring effective service delivery to the people.

He urged party faithful to remain committed to the ideals of unity and collective responsibility, noting that political progress can only be achieved when leaders and supporters work together towards common goals.

The visits underscored the growing confidence of key political, religious and community stakeholders in the leadership of Murtala Sule Garo, whose role in fostering partnerships and promoting harmony continues to attract recognition from diverse segments of society.
