BREAKING: Obi, Kwankwaso Reportedly Set to Dump ADC for NDC Today Ahead of 2027 Race

Fresh cracks have reportedly emerged within Nigeria’s opposition coalition as former presidential candidates Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are said to be preparing to formally leave the African Democratic Congress for the Nigeria Democratic Congress today, Sunday, in Abuja.

According to reports circulating in political circles, both leaders are expected to declare for the NDC at about 2:00 p.m. in the Federal Capital Territory, a move that could significantly reshape opposition politics ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

They are expected to be received by the party’s National Leader and former Bayelsa State governor Henry Seriake Dickson, National Chairman Moses Cleopas, and members of the National Working Committee.

The reported defection comes amid growing uncertainty within the ADC, where internal leadership disputes and concerns over the 2027 presidential ticket have triggered fresh consultations among opposition figures.

If confirmed, the move would mark one of the biggest political realignments so far in the countdown to the 2027 general election.
