Shock in Katsina Central as Sitting Rep Loses APC Ticket, Mangal’s Son Picked as Consensus Candidate for 2027
A major political upset has unfolded in Katsina Central Federal Constituency as serving House of Representatives member, Hon. Sani Aliyu Danlami, lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) return ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.
Danlami, who is currently serving his second term in the Green Chamber, was displaced after several days of intense consultations involving party leaders, stakeholders, and key political influencers within the constituency.
Following the closed-door negotiations, the party reportedly settled for Abba Mangal, son of prominent billionaire businessman Dahiru Mangal, as its consensus candidate for the seat.
The development signals a significant power shift in Katsina Central, considering Danlami’s status as incumbent lawmaker and his established grassroots political structure.
Abba Mangal, a legal practitioner, had not publicly declared his intention to contest the seat, making his emergence a surprise to many political observers and party supporters.
