NWU VC Unveils 14-Point “PRECISE WIND” Agenda
— outlines roadmap to boost academics, research, global ranking
The Vice-Chancellor of Northwest University Kano (NWU), Professor Amina Salihi Bayero, has unveiled a 14-Point strategic agenda, tagged “PRECISE WIND,” aimed at repositioning the university for academic excellence, institutional efficiency and global competitiveness.
The agenda was formally unveiled on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the Professor Hafiz Abubakar Auditorium, City Campus, during an event that attracted a large turnout of staff, students and members of the university management.
The PRECISE WIND Agenda represents the Vice-Chancellor’s five-year strategic plan (2025–2030), aligned with the university’s vision and mission. It is designed as a comprehensive roadmap to strengthen teaching and learning, research output, governance, infrastructure and community engagement, with the goal of elevating Northwest University Kano among leading institutions of higher learning in Nigeria and beyond.
Speaking at the event, Professor Bayero explained that PRECISE WIND is an acronym that captures the core focus areas of her administration. These include Partnership and Engagement; Power and Security; Ranking and Globalization; Excellence in Academics and Research; Consolidation; Innovativeness and Entrepreneurial Skills; Sustainability; Ethical Behaviour; Welfare; Infrastructural Development; Inclusive Leadership; Neatness and Health; and Digital Transformation.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Professor Sabo Abdullahi Albasu (Mayanan Gaya), said the agenda was carefully developed to address both present challenges and future needs of the university. He described the initiative as timely and strategic, noting that its successful implementation would positively impact the institution and its host communities.
In her keynote address, the Vice-Chancellor provided a detailed breakdown of each component of the 14-Point agenda, highlighting its expected impact on academics, research, administration, security, staff and student welfare, infrastructure development and digital systems. She stressed that collective ownership and commitment from all stakeholders are critical to achieving the objectives of the agenda.
Professor Bayero called on staff and students to embrace the initiative and actively support its implementation, noting that the agenda is designed to promote transparency, inclusiveness and sustainable growth.
To demonstrate her administration’s readiness to move from planning to execution, the Vice-Chancellor immediately inaugurated 14 implementation committees, each assigned to oversee one aspect of the PRECISE WIND Agenda.
Responding on behalf of the committees, Professor Mansur Ibrahim Mukhtar expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for the confidence reposed in them and assured the university community of their commitment to diligently discharge their responsibilities.
The committees were drawn from across faculties, departments, units and directorates of the university, reflecting competence, inclusiveness and institutional balance. The event was attended by all Principal Officers of the university, signalling strong leadership support for the agenda.
The unveiling of the PRECISE WIND Agenda marks a new phase in the leadership of Professor Amina Salihi Bayero and underscores the university’s commitment to strategic planning, shared responsibility and institutional transformation.
