Global Peace Ambassador Zubairu Malami Welcomes 2026 with Call for Unity, Justice and Bold Peace Actions
Global Peace Ambassador, Zubairu Dalhatu Malami, has ushered in the New Year with a strong message of hope, unity, and renewed global commitment to peace, urging governments, institutions, and citizens to move beyond rhetoric and take concrete actions against insecurity and violence.
In a New Year press release issued in Abuja, Ambassador Malami congratulated humanity for witnessing the dawn of 2026, describing the moment as more than a passage of time but a symbol of collective resilience, courage, and enduring hope in the face of global challenges.
Reflecting on the past year, the peace advocate noted that events across the world have once again exposed the fragility of peace and the urgent need for deliberate and coordinated action. He warned that insecurity—whether at community, national, or global levels—continues to claim lives, stall development, and weaken trust among people and institutions.
“As we welcome this new year, there is an urgent need for governments, civil society organizations, youth leaders, and everyday citizens to recommit themselves to building violence-free societies anchored on justice, empathy, and inclusion,” Malami stated.
He emphasized that peace should not be treated as a passive desire, but as a conscious daily choice that demands action, dialogue, and the protection of human dignity. According to him, insecurity flourishes where silence prevails and where communities feel abandoned, stressing that 2026 must mark a turning point.
“Let 2026 be the year we break the silence, confront injustice, and build bridges across our differences,” he said.
Ambassador Malami also reaffirmed his commitment to advancing peace initiatives across Nigeria and beyond. He disclosed ongoing and future collaborations with strategic partners, including the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), AUDA-NEPAD, African Peacebuilding and Reconciliation Initiatives (APRI), and Zamkah Technologies, aimed at strengthening early warning systems, empowering youths and women, and enhancing community resilience.
According to him, sustained partnerships and inclusive engagement remain key to transforming conflict into cooperation and replacing fear with hope.
As the world steps into 2026, the Global Peace Ambassador called for bold and practical peace-building efforts, urging humanity to rise above division and recommit to the shared vision of a safer and more compassionate world.
He concluded by wishing Nigerians and the global community a peaceful and prosperous New Year, expressing optimism that peace would guide collective steps throughout the year.
