Former Deputy Governor, Commissioner, ALGON Chairman and AC Governorship Candidate to Head A4A State Structure

KANO — The Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A) has appointed Engr. Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo, former Minister, former Deputy Governor of Kano State and veteran political leader, as its Kano State Coordinator, in a strategic move aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.

Gwarzo’s appointment, conveyed in a notification issued on behalf of the Director-General of A4A, places the experienced politician at the head of the organisation’s structure in Kano State, where he is expected to coordinate its political activities across the state.

The organisation said the appointment was made in furtherance of its efforts to advance the President’s re-election mandate across the 19 northern states, describing Gwarzo’s nomination as a reflection of the confidence reposed in his political pedigree, experience and standing within Kano State.

Gwarzo brings to the assignment extensive political and administrative experience acquired at the local, state and federal levels.

He is a former Minister, former Deputy Governor of Kano State, former Commissioner and former Local Government Chairman, as well as a former Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON).

He also previously contested the Kano State governorship election under the platform of the Action Congress (AC), making him a long-standing participant in the state’s political affairs.

With this wealth of experience, his appointment is expected to strengthen A4A’s grassroots structure and political coordination in Kano, one of the most politically significant states in northern Nigeria.

As State Coordinator, Gwarzo will provide overall political leadership for A4A in Kano State and constitute the State Directorate in line with the organisation’s 14-position national structure.

He will also coordinate all Local Government Area Coordinators across the state, who will report directly to him.

The notification further tasked Gwarzo with driving state-level mobilisation, activation of the organisation’s various wings and effective political communication, while reporting to the Deputy National Coordinator, North West.

The new Kano coordinator is expected to deploy his extensive grassroots networks and political experience towards building an effective and coordinated structure capable of reaching communities across the state.

The appointment comes as political organisations intensify preparations for the 2027 elections, with grassroots mobilisation, strategic communication and local government structures expected to play a crucial role in the emerging political contest.

A4A stated that all its activities would be coordinated by the Northern Projects Coordination Office (NPCO), which provides content guidelines and messaging direction across the organisation’s structures.

Further guidance on the constitution of the Kano State Directorate and LGA Coordinators will be provided by the national leadership, while details of the official launch of the Kano State structure are expected to be announced subsequently.

Gwarzo has been requested to formally communicate his acceptance of the nomination in writing to the National Secretariat.

His appointment gives A4A a politically experienced figure with a record spanning local government administration, ALGON leadership, state executive responsibilities, federal ministerial service and governorship politics.

The organisation expressed confidence that Gwarzo would provide the leadership required to build a strong and effective A4A structure in Kano and contribute to the broader objective of mobilising support for President Tinubu across the North.

The appointment is therefore expected to mark a new phase in A4A’s political mobilisation efforts in Kano State as the organisation begins preparations to deepen its presence from the state level down to the grassroots.
