Revenue Commission Backs Kano Pension Board, Vows to Pursue Outstanding Entitlements
The National Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Allocation Commission (RMAFC), Kano State Branch, has pledged to support the Kano State Pension Board in its efforts to protect the rights and improve the welfare of workers and pensioners in the state.
The commitment was made during a working visit by the Chairman of the Commission to the Chairman of the Kano State Pension Board, Alhaji Habu Muhammad Fagge, at the Board’s office in Kano.
According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Pension Board, Abba Badamasi Bello, and made available to journalists in Kano, the visit focused on strengthening cooperation between government agencies and supporting the Board’s efforts to safeguard the interests of workers and pensioners.
During the meeting, the delegation stressed the need for stronger coordination among government institutions at the local, state and federal levels to ensure that all funds, statutory payments and other entitlements due to the Kano State Pension Board are properly identified, released and remitted.
The delegation further said that where funds or other legitimate entitlements due to the Board had not been paid or properly remitted, relevant institutional and legal mechanisms would be explored to facilitate their recovery.
It said the recovery of outstanding funds would enhance the capacity of the Pension Board to effectively discharge its responsibilities and provide better protection for workers and pensioners.
Responding, the Chairman of the Kano State Pension Board, Alhaji Habu Muhammad Fagge, welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the visit and the commitment to closer inter-agency cooperation.
Fagge emphasized the importance of collaboration among government institutions in addressing challenges affecting pension administration and ensuring that workers and pensioners receive their legitimate entitlements.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kano State Council; the President of the National Union of Pensioners (NUP), Kano State Branch; the President of the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), Kano State Branch; and PM Commissioner I, Hassan Muhammad Amin.
The stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation and creating an enabling environment for effective pension administration, while ensuring that the rights and welfare of workers and pensioners remain adequately protected.
The engagement is expected to further deepen collaboration among relevant institutions and strengthen efforts to ensure that all legitimate financial obligations due to the Kano State Pension Board are recovered and properly utilized for the benefit of workers and pensioners.
