Forum of Former Kano Commissioners Hails Gov. Yusuf’s Choice of Murtala Garo as 2027 Running Mate, Pledges Full Support

The Forum of Former Honourable Commissioners of Kano State who served between 2015 and 2023 has commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf over the nomination of former Deputy Governor, His Excellency Murtala Sule Garo, as his running mate for the 2027 Kano State governorship election.

In a statement signed by the Forum, the former commissioners described the governor’s decision as bold, strategic and statesmanlike, saying it reflects confidence in Garo’s proven leadership, competence, integrity and unwavering commitment to public service.

The Forum noted that having served alongside Murtala Sule Garo during their respective tenures in government, its members could attest to his exceptional administrative ability, political maturity and dedication to the development of Kano State.

According to the statement, Garo distinguished himself in public office as a dependable leader, a bridge-builder and a grassroots politician whose acceptance cuts across political, ethnic and social divides.

The Forum described his nomination as a well-deserved recognition of merit, loyalty, hard work and selfless service, adding that it also demonstrates the confidence reposed in him by Governor Yusuf.

While congratulating Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Murtala Sule Garo on what it described as a significant political milestone, the Forum expressed confidence that their partnership would provide stronger leadership and accelerate the development of Kano State.

The former commissioners also pledged their unwavering support for the Abba Kabir Yusuf–Murtala Sule Garo ticket, assuring the governor, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), party members and supporters of their commitment to mobilising political goodwill and experience toward securing victory in the 2027 governorship election.

The Forum further called on APC members and supporters across the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State to remain united, strengthen party cohesion and work collectively for the success of the party, stressing that unity, discipline and commitment are essential to achieving electoral victory.

It also prayed to Almighty Allah (SWT) to grant Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Murtala Sule Garo wisdom, sound health and divine guidance, while asking for peaceful, free and credible elections and a resounding victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.
