Gov Yusuf Charges Kano Pilgrims on Discipline, Donates 200 Riyals and Free Ihram to All
The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has called on intending pilgrims from the state to conduct themselves as worthy ambassadors during the 2026 Hajj exercise, urging them to uphold the values of discipline, humility, and Islamic brotherhood throughout their stay in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The governor made the call during a practical demonstration exercise organised for intending pilgrims at the Kano Hajj Camp ahead of their departure for the holy pilgrimage.
This was contained in a press release issued on Sunday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mustapha Muhammad.
Represented by the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Murtala Sule Garo, Governor Yusuf reminded the pilgrims that their conduct would reflect not only their personal upbringing but also the image of Kano State and Nigeria at large before millions of Muslims from across the globe.
“You are going to a land where millions of Muslims from all over the world will gather. Let your conduct reflect discipline, humility, brotherhood, and the true spirit of Islam. Abide by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and follow instructions from your officials,” the governor stated.
In a major gesture of support and welfare, Governor Yusuf announced a donation of 200 Saudi Riyals to each intending pilgrim from Kano State to assist them during their stay in the Holy Land.
The governor also approved the distribution of free Ihram materials to all pilgrims. During the event, the Deputy Governor personally distributed samples of the Ihram materials to some beneficiaries at the Hajj Camp.
The Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, commended the governor for his continued support and commitment towards ensuring a successful Hajj operation for Kano pilgrims.
He disclosed that despite several operational challenges encountered by the board, it successfully achieved its target in securing visas for all intending pilgrims from the state.
According to him, the inaugural flight conveying Kano pilgrims to Saudi Arabia is scheduled to depart on May 14, 2026, with Madinah as the first destination.
The event drew government officials, Hajj administrators, religious leaders, and hundreds of intending pilgrims who gathered to witness the practical orientation exercise ahead of the spiritual journey.
