BREAKING: Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru Resigns on Health Grounds

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has resigned from office with immediate effect.

In a letter dated December 1 and addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Badaru cited health reasons for his decision to step down from the federal cabinet.

President Tinubu has accepted the resignation and expressed appreciation for Badaru’s service to the nation, acknowledging his contributions to national security during his tenure.

Presidency sources indicate that the President is expected to formally notify the Senate of a nominee to replace Badaru later this week.

Badaru’s resignation marks the first major exit from Tinubu’s cabinet since its inauguration.
