Kano Marks World Children’s Day as Gov. Yusuf Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive Opportunities for Every Child
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that every child in the state is provided with equal opportunities to learn, grow and realize their full potential.
The Governor made the pledge in a message to commemorate the 2026 World Children’s Day celebration, emphasizing that children remain the foundation of sustainable development and the leaders of tomorrow.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, Governor Yusuf stated that his administration has continued to implement policies and programmes designed to improve the welfare and future prospects of children across Kano State.
According to him, the government remains committed to ensuring that no child is left behind through sustained investments in education, healthcare, child protection and social development initiatives.
“Children are the backbone of our future. As a government, we are determined to create an enabling environment where every child can access quality education, receive proper healthcare, develop their talents and achieve their aspirations,” he said.
Governor Yusuf noted that the administration has placed special emphasis on supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged children, including children with disabilities, out-of-school children and those facing various social and economic challenges.
He stressed that meaningful progress in child development requires collective action and strong collaboration among government institutions, parents, teachers, traditional leaders, civil society organizations and development partners.
The Deputy Governor explained that through strategic partnerships and community engagement, the state government is working to eliminate barriers that hinder children from reaching their full potential and contributing meaningfully to society.
He further called on parents, guardians, educators and other stakeholders to continue nurturing children with love, guidance and support, while providing them with the tools and opportunities necessary for success.
Governor Yusuf reiterated that investing in children remains one of the most effective ways to secure a prosperous future for Kano State, adding that the administration will continue to prioritize programmes that promote child welfare, protection and development.
The World Children’s Day celebration serves as a global reminder of the importance of safeguarding the rights, well-being and future of every child, while encouraging governments and communities to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for young people.
