HAJJ 2026: Arafat Day – Northern Region Caucus Chairman Doguwa Urges Pilgrims to Pray for Nigeria, Tinubu Administration, Commends Governor Abba’s Leadership

The Chairman of the Northern Region Caucus in the House of Representatives and Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has called on Nigerian pilgrims performing the 2026 Hajj to dedicate their prayers on the Day of Arafat to the peace, unity and progress of Nigeria as well as the success of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Doguwa made the call while speaking with journalists at the Arafat grounds in Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, during one of the most spiritually significant days of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
He urged pilgrims to take advantage of the blessings associated with the Day of Arafat by offering sincere prayers for Nigeria’s stability, economic prosperity and continued development, stressing that the country needs divine intervention and guidance at all levels.
According to him, the administration of President Tinubu deserves the prayers and support of Nigerians as it continues to implement policies aimed at addressing national challenges and improving the living conditions of citizens.
The lawmaker expressed confidence that with prayers, unity and collective commitment from Nigerians, the nation would overcome its difficulties and emerge stronger.
Doguwa also showered praises on the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, describing him as a humble and people-centered leader whose style of governance has endeared him to the masses.
He noted that Kano State is fortunate to have Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the helm of affairs, adding that the governor has consistently demonstrated a commitment to serving the people by identifying with them and remaining accessible to ordinary citizens.
“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is a leader who comes down to the level of the common man. His simplicity and concern for the welfare of the people have distinguished his administration and earned him the admiration of many Kano residents,” Doguwa stated.
The Northern Caucus Chairman further reflected on the lessons of Hajj, emphasizing that the pilgrimage teaches humility, equality and brotherhood among Muslims regardless of social, political or economic status.
He remarked that whenever he visits the holy city of Makkah, he makes it a point to interact freely with fellow pilgrims and worshippers, noting that there is no room for social distinction during the pilgrimage.
“In Makkah, everyone stands equal before Allah. There are no VIPs here. The experience teaches leaders and followers alike the importance of humility, service and mutual respect,” he said.
Doguwa also appealed to the people of Kano State to continue supporting Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and consider renewing his mandate during the 2027 governorship election, citing the governor’s achievements and commitment to grassroots development.
Meanwhile, the federal lawmaker was observed exchanging pleasantries and interacting warmly with pilgrims and visitors from within and outside Nigeria at the Arafat grounds, where he shared moments of fellowship with worshippers from diverse backgrounds.
His interactions reflected the spirit of unity and brotherhood that defines the Hajj pilgrimage and drew commendation from many pilgrims who appreciated his approachable nature and willingness to mingle freely with people.
As pilgrims continue the sacred rites of Hajj, Doguwa reiterated the importance of prayers for Nigeria, urging all faithful to seek Allah’s blessings for the country’s leaders, peace, security and sustainable development.
