Tinubu Sweeps Kano APC Presidential Primary, Polls 500,852 Votes Against Osifo’s 2,675
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has secured an overwhelming victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election in Kano State, garnering 500,852 votes to defeat fellow aspirant Stanley Osifo, who scored 2,675 votes.
The outcome of the exercise was announced on Sunday in a statement issued by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
The primary election was conducted across the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State, with results collated and verified at ward and local government levels before being aggregated at the state collation centre.
The exercise was supervised by the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, who served as the State Chief Collation Officer.
During the collation process, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Murtala Sule Garo, represented President Tinubu as his agent, while Auwal Muhammad Kofa acted on behalf of Stanley Osifo.
A breakdown of the results showed that President Tinubu dominated voting across all 44 local government areas, recording his highest votes in Gwale Local Government Area with 40,697 votes, followed by Nasarawa with 37,509 votes, Kano Municipal with 29,287 votes, Kumbotso with 27,400 votes and Dala with 27,339 votes.
Other notable performances included Tarauni with 23,746 votes, Ungogo with 20,315 votes and Fagge with 19,583 votes, underscoring widespread support for the President across both metropolitan and rural parts of the state.
Speaking while declaring the results at Africa House after receiving reports from returning officers from all 44 local government areas, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf commended APC members in Kano State for their peaceful conduct, unity and discipline throughout the primary election process.
The governor said the overwhelming support recorded for President Tinubu reflected the strength of the APC in Kano and demonstrated the confidence party members have in the party’s leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the outcome of the exercise was a clear indication of the party’s cohesion and readiness to consolidate its electoral fortunes in the coming years.
Governor Yusuf also urged party faithful to sustain the spirit of unity and commitment that characterized the primary election, stressing that collective efforts would be crucial to ensuring the continued growth and success of the APC in Kano State and across the country.
The presidential primary election concluded peacefully, with party officials expressing satisfaction over the conduct of members and the transparent collation of results from all parts of the state.
