2026 Hajj: Kano Sets National Benchmark in Pilgrims Welfare, Health Compliance, and Coordination
The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has reaffirmed its leadership in Hajj administration, declaring full readiness for the airlift of intending pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The Director General of the Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, made this known while addressing journalists shortly after the official inauguration of the vaccination exercise for intending pilgrims at the Kano State Hajj Camp Clinic on Friday.
He disclosed that the Board has successfully secured 100 percent visa issuance for all registered pilgrims, describing the achievement as a clear reflection of the Kano State Government’s commitment to efficient service delivery and the welfare of its citizens.
Matawalle emphasized that all critical arrangements — including logistics, documentation, and health protocols — have been meticulously put in place to ensure a smooth, safe, and hitch-free airlift operation.
He further assured that the Board remains focused on providing a seamless and spiritually fulfilling Hajj experience for all pilgrims from the state.
Earlier, the Director of Port Health Services at the Federal Ministry of Health commended the Kano State Government and the leadership of the Pilgrims Welfare Board for their exceptional organization and adherence to health standards.
She described the vaccination exercise as exemplary, noting that Kano stands out among states she has visited for its orderliness, coordination, and professionalism.
“I am very happy with the way Kano State is conducting the vaccination exercise. Of all the states I have visited, Kano is the best — very orderly and well organized,” she said.
She reiterated that Port Health Services is mandated to ensure that no Nigerian travels out of the country without proper vaccination, and that all entrants comply with health requirements to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
The successful rollout of the vaccination exercise, alongside the timely processing of visas, highlights Kano State’s strategic preparedness and reinforces its position as a national benchmark in Hajj operations ahead of the 2026 pilgrimage.
