Jigawa State Pilgrims Board Returns N31 Million to Hajj Pilgrims, N24 Million to State Treasury in Landmark 2025 Operation
In a remarkable display of transparency and fiscal responsibility, the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, led by Director General Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo, has announced the return of over N31 million to the 930 pilgrims who participated in the 2025 Hajj. This refund comes after the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia approved a significant discount on the price of animal sacrifices made by the state pilgrims during their sacred journey.
The 2025 Hajj operation, overseen by the Emir of Kazaure, Dr. Najib Hussaini Adamu, as Amirul Hajj, was marked by successful negotiations with the Hadaya company, which facilitated the animal sacrifices. As a result, each pilgrim who paid for their sacrifice through the Pilgrims Board will receive a refund of over N42,000.
In addition to the refunds to pilgrims, the Board also returned N24 million to the state government’s treasury, a testament to the honest and judicious management of operational funds allocated for the Hajj exercise. Dr. Adamu presented the 2025 Hajj Report to Governor Umar Namadi, highlighting the Board’s commitment to providing excellent welfare services, including food, accommodation, and medical care for the pilgrims.
Notably, the 2025 Hajj operation saw no cases of abscondment or childbirth, a significant achievement that underscores the effective planning and execution of the pilgrimage. The Amirul Hajj also praised Governor Namadi for his generous Sallah gift of 100 Saudi Riyals to each pilgrim, enhancing their experience during the Hajj.
The introduction of a new accommodation allocation method prior to the pilgrims’ arrival in Makkah proved to be a game-changer, alleviating long-standing issues faced by pilgrims in previous years.
In response, Governor Umar Namadi expressed his gratitude to the Amirul Hajj and the Pilgrims Board for their dedication and hard work, which contributed to the success of the 2025 Hajj operation. He commended the Board for their transparent use of funds and their commitment to the welfare of the state’s pilgrims.
Director General Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo attributed the success of the Hajj operation to the unwavering support provided by Governor Namadi throughout the process, praying for divine guidance as the governor continues to lead the state.
