The Executive Director, Technical Services of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Engr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, FNSE, has conducted a working visit to the 1600MW power project being developed by CMEC Group in Gwagwalada, Abuja, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s power infrastructure and expand access to reliable electricity.

During the visit, Engr. Ganduje toured the project site and inspected ongoing construction activities, receiving detailed briefings from project officials on the scope of work, implementation milestones, and expected completion timelines.

He expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work achieved so far, commending the project team for maintaining momentum in the execution of one of the country’s strategic power generation initiatives.

Engr. Ganduje noted that large-scale investments in power infrastructure remain critical to addressing Nigeria’s energy challenges, boosting economic growth, and improving the quality of life for citizens.

The REA Technical Services Director reiterated the agency’s commitment to supporting transformative energy projects that align with the Federal Government’s vision of expanding electricity access, enhancing energy security, and driving sustainable national development.

He emphasized that strategic collaborations between government institutions and private sector investors are essential for accelerating the delivery of modern and resilient power infrastructure across the country.

The 1600MW power project is expected to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s electricity generation capacity upon completion, providing a major boost to industrial activities, economic productivity, and overall national development.
