As EU Ambassadors Appreciated HE Garo’s Presentation, When He Represented Governor Yusuf

Yes His Excellency the Deputy Governor of Kano state, Murtala Sule Garo, started well as Number Two Citizen, of the state. Few days after his inauguration he represented his boss, the, Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf in some occasions.
Out of the entire representations of his boss, since his inauguration few weeks back, the one that becomes more outstanding and unique, is in today’s occasion when European Union Ambassadors visited Government House, Kano, and were received by the Deputy Governor, Garo.
The EU delegation was led by His Excellency Ambassador Gautier Mignot, who appreciated all the issues raised by the state, seeking for lasting partnership in areas listed and soundly discussed by HE Garo, on behalf of the Governor.
Appreciating how Garo presented the demands of the state government and the people of the state, Ambassador Mignot, with smile all over his face and other Ambassadors present, acknowledged Kano as a major development hub in Northern Nigeria and a strategic partner in EU-Nigeria cooperation.
Adding that, “The fact that we selected Kano for this year’s mission reflects the importance we attach to the state as a key development hub for Northern Nigeria and a strategic partner in our cooperation with Nigeria.” This says a lot in explaining how EU is comfortable to partner with Kano state in many facets of development.
As a good representative of the Governor, the Deputy Governor, with full confidence and genuine commitment seeks an enhanced collaboration with the EU in some key areas of sustainable development. Areas many see as special appeal for the love of the state and citizens.
When Garo started with education and skills development, one could read from the faces of Their Excellencies, the Ambassadors, that Kano state government, knows exactly where the right button is. Under this, he solicited for the good support for educational infrastructure, teacher training, vocational education, and digital learning initiatives. A performing Deputy Governor of great substance.
As a government of focused leadership and all-important commitment to the development of its people, his good presentation appeals for scholarships and exchange opportunities for students and professionals. With this, it means Kano people will soon start getting global corridors for self and societal development. This is another strategy of making Kano citizens to become global citizens. A show of seriousness in governance.
Under economic growth and youth employment, the Deputy Governor in an eloquent display of serious government and presentation, sheds light, when he urged for helping hand from EU on investment in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurship. He made it categorical when he highlighted that, “We kindly request for the intervention in the review and validation of our draft sub-national PPP policy to ensure it fits into our economy setting, development programs and innovation hubs aimed at creating sustainable employment opportunities for young people.”
Ambassadors present and all other participants at the grand event, appreciated HE Garo, for this foresight. Which he did on behalf of the Governor. With this in place, security will definitely improve. And youth development will become the order of the day.
Briefing the delegation on the mainstay of our economy, the state government under agriculture and food security, seeks for modern agricultural technologies, irrigation systems, value-chain development, capacity-building programs for farmers, livestock development. And to make it look modern and energizing, HE Garo calls for support for climate-smart agricultural practices to improve productivity and resilience. This is leadership at its peak!
How HE Garo received this EU Ambassadors, many would have thought that, he has been a Deputy Governor for the past 3 years or so. The composure, presentation and eloquence, before the gentlemen, were superb and enticing.
Health related professionals were keenly listening to his remarks, thinking that he would not touch health sector. But his call on behalf of his boss, the Governor, was about to bring to the fore a standing ovation. He eloquently discussed healthcare and public welfare. When he called for the strengthening of healthcare systems, maternal and child health services, disease prevention programs, and access to essential medical resources.
On another global issue that is climate action and environmental sustainability, he urged for assistance in addressing desertification, environmental degradation, renewable energy development, and climate adaptation initiatives.
The special appeal as viewed by many, gives cognizance of the global world as the Deputy Governor mentioned other areas of importance.These are infrastructure and digital transformation. Under this he calls for partnerships that promote sustainable infrastructure, clean energy solutions, and digital connectivity to accelerate economic development.
As he rounded up he emphasized that, “We firmly believe that stronger cooperation between the European Union and Kano State will contribute to shared prosperity, social stability, and sustainable development while fostering stronger ties between our peoples.
We respectfully urge the European Union to consider Kano State as a strategic partner for development initiatives and investment opportunities that can improve the lives of millions of citizens.
We look forward to constructive engagement and mutually beneficial partnerships that advance our common goals of peace, progress, and human dignity.”
Without fear of mincing words, HE Garo’s presentation and special appeal to the European Union delegation of Ambassadors, is something that can only be understood and appreciated by informed minds of critical thinking. This goes beyond politics or politicking. It is an exercise of focused and reasoned leadership. All he did on behalf of His Excellency Governor Yusuf.
Alas HE Yusuf now has a Deputy who thinks before he talks. A Deputy of focused mind and embracing mode of thinking. I also repeat that, HE Garo is one Deputy who can represent his boss without any worry attached. His today’s presentation speaks volumes of his capacity.
It is from today that I attach more encouraging hope that Kano First Agenda, will definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel. What we now have in place is leadership with capacity and foresight. HE Garo in today’s event appears to be more a professional than a politician. Congratulations Governor Yusuf, once again, for having HE Garo by your side.
