Kebbi Pilgrims Receive Cash Support, Free Hadaya as Gov. Nasir Idris Expands Hajj Welfare Package

Thousands of Kebbi State pilgrims performing the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have continued to benefit from an extensive welfare package approved by Governor Nasir Idris to support them throughout the spiritual exercise.
The State Amirul Hajj, Alhaji Ahmad Ja’afaru Jega, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Makkah, revealing that the governor fully paid for the Hadaya sacrifice of each pilgrim as part of measures aimed at ensuring a smooth and stress-free Hajj operation.
According to him, Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu approved the payment of 720 Saudi Riyals for the Hadaya of every pilgrim from Kebbi State, an amount equivalent to about 200 US dollars.
He explained that the gesture was designed to relieve pilgrims of the financial burden associated with the important Hajj rite and allow them to concentrate fully on their spiritual obligations.
In addition to the Hadaya support, Alhaji Ahmad Ja’afaru Jega said the Kebbi State Government also distributed 350 Saudi Riyals to each pilgrim to assist them in meeting personal expenses during their stay in the Holy Land.
The Amirul Hajj further disclosed that male pilgrims received free Ihram materials, while female pilgrims were provided with Hijabs as part of the state government’s welfare intervention.
He noted that the comprehensive support package reflected Governor Nasir Idris’ strong commitment to the wellbeing, comfort and dignity of Kebbi pilgrims throughout the Hajj exercise.
“The governor has demonstrated uncommon concern for our pilgrims by ensuring that they are properly supported financially and morally. These interventions have greatly reduced the stress usually associated with Hajj,” he stated.
Alhaji Ja’afaru Jega also revealed that the state government secured decent accommodation for the pilgrims at locations very close to the Grand Mosque in Makkah, thereby making it easier for them to participate regularly in congregational prayers at the Holy Ka’abah Mosque.
“Because of the proximity of our hotels to the Grand Mosque, our pilgrims have easy access to the Ka’abah and have been observing the five daily prayers without difficulty. This is a great spiritual opportunity for them,” he added.
The Amirul Hajj commended the discipline and orderly conduct of Kebbi pilgrims, saying they had continued to project a positive image of the state and Nigeria throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia.
“Despite having one of the largest contingents from Nigeria, Kebbi pilgrims have remained peaceful, disciplined and law-abiding in all places of worship and public gatherings,” he said.
He also praised officials of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Board and support teams for their dedication and tireless efforts toward ensuring the successful completion of the Hajj rites by all pilgrims from the state.
Alhaji Ahmad Ja’afaru Jega urged the pilgrims to continue praying for peace, unity and development in Kebbi State and Nigeria, while also encouraging them to respect Saudi Arabian regulations and maintain the good image of the country.
Many of the pilgrims expressed appreciation to Governor Nasir Idris for the unprecedented welfare support, describing the 2026 Hajj operation as one of the most organised and pilgrim-friendly exercises in recent years.
They prayed for Allah’s continued guidance and blessings upon the governor for prioritising their welfare and demonstrating genuine commitment to their spiritual and social wellbeing.
