2026 Hajj: Governor Abba Warns Kano Pilgrims Against Misconduct in Saudi Arabia
The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has cautioned intending pilgrims from the state to shun all forms of misconduct and uphold the image of Kano and Nigeria while performing the 2026 Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The governor gave the warning while addressing 560 intending pilgrims scheduled to be airlifted to the Holy Land for this year’s pilgrimage exercise.
This was contained in a press statement issued on Saturday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mustapha Muhammad.
Governor Yusuf urged the pilgrims to fear God and conduct themselves in a responsible and exemplary manner throughout their stay in the Holy Land.
“We believe our pilgrims are wonderful people and will not engage in any shameful act,” the governor stated.
He assured the pilgrims that the Kano State Government had made adequate arrangements to ensure their comfort and wellbeing during the pilgrimage, particularly in the area of healthcare services.
According to him, the state government has deployed a medical team and provided hospital facilities in Saudi Arabia to cater for any pilgrim who may fall ill during the exercise.
“My Deputy Governor, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, has already briefed you on my behalf. We have done a lot for you, especially in the area of healthcare,” the governor added.
Governor Yusuf further announced the appointment of the Emir of Gaya, Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, as the Amirul Hajj for the 2026 pilgrimage, while the Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Muhammad Muhammad Maharaz, will serve as his deputy.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, commended the Kano State Government for its support towards ensuring a smooth and hitch-free Hajj operation.
He disclosed that all the 560 pilgrims in the first batch had been provided with essential hygiene materials including soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes to support them upon arrival in Saudi Arabia.
The farewell ceremony was attended by top government officials including the Deputy Governor, Murtala Sule Garo, the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, the Amirul Hajj and other dignitaries, who offered prayers for the pilgrims to arrive safely and perform a successful Hajj exercise.
