Governor Yusuf Sacks Kano Head of Service, Appoints Maimota as Acting Replacement

The Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has relieved the State Head of Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, of his appointment with immediate effect.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday evening by the Director General, Media and Publicity at Government House Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
According to the statement, the decision forms part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to reposition the civil service for improved efficiency, discipline and better service delivery across all government institutions.
Governor Yusuf, however, expressed appreciation to the outgoing Head of Service for his contributions and dedication to the service of Kano State during his time in office.
“We wish him the best in his future endeavours and pray for his continued success in all aspects of life,” the statement quoted the governor as saying.
The governor also approved the appointment of Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the Permanent Secretary in charge of Administration and General Services at the Cabinet Office, to serve as Acting Head of Service pending the appointment of a substantive replacement.
The statement further directed the outgoing Head of Service to hand over the affairs of the office to the Acting Head of Service no later than Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
The move is seen as part of Governor Yusuf’s broader administrative reforms aimed at strengthening governance and enhancing the performance of the state civil service.
