Ganduje Returns from London, Prepares Ground for Major APC Moves in Kano
Former APC national chairman to lead e-registration drive, plays key role as political realignments gather pace
Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and immediate past Governor of Kano State, has returned to Nigeria from London and is set to embark on a series of high-level political engagements in Kano, signalling renewed momentum within the ruling party.
Ganduje arrived in Abuja aboard a British Airways flight at about 5:30 a.m. on Monday, following his trip to the United Kingdom where he attended the graduation ceremony of his daughter, Fatima, at King’s College, London. Fatima, who is married to Idris Ajimobi—son of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi—graduated with a Master’s degree from the prestigious institution on Thursday.
According to a press statement signed by his Chief of Staff, Comrade Muhammad Garba, the former APC national chairman is expected to proceed to Kano later in the day to commence key political activities aimed at strengthening the party’s structures in the state.
A major highlight of Ganduje’s engagements is his scheduled participation in the APC’s electronic registration of members, a reform initiative he introduced during his tenure as national chairman. The programme is designed to modernise the party’s membership database and enhance internal organisation ahead of future electoral contests.
The statement also disclosed that Ganduje is expected to play a prominent role in activities surrounding the planned reception of Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, who is set to formally defect to the APC. The anticipated defection has continued to generate political interest across the state and beyond, given its potential impact on Kano’s political landscape.
Observers view Ganduje’s return and forthcoming engagements as part of broader efforts to consolidate recent political realignments, reinforce party cohesion, and position the APC more strongly in Kano State.
