Tinubu Receives Taraba Governor Agbu, Ex–Akwa Ibom Governor Udom as Both Prepare to Join APC

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday received Taraba State Governor, Kefas Agbu, at the State House in Abuja, in what officials say is a final step ahead of the governor’s formal declaration for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Agbu arrived at the Villa at about 1:30 p.m. and was later accompanied to the President’s office by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for a meeting that commenced around 2 p.m.

The engagement marks Agbu’s first official audience with President Tinubu since his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling APC. He had earlier been scheduled to attend a party welcome rally on November 19 but postponed the event following the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State.

In a related development, former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, is also set to join the APC after concluding arrangements for his defection.

Udom, who attended the recently concluded PDP national convention in Ibadan, was sighted at the United Evangelical Church in Surulere, Lagos, where he commended President Tinubu’s leadership and signaled his readiness to work with the administration.

The former governor said all Nigerians must support the President to address the challenges confronting the country, a remark seen by political observers as an endorsement ahead of his upcoming move to the APC.

The defections of Agbu and Udom, both prominent PDP figures, are expected to further reshape political alignments ahead of upcoming national and state electoral cycles.
