Bandits Demand ₦100 Million Ransom for Each Abducted Worshipper in Kwara
Tension has heightened in Eruku community, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, as bandits who abducted 38 worshippers from the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, have reportedly demanded ₦100 million ransom per victim.
Radio Nigeria gathered that the kidnappers have begun reaching out to families of the abductees, notifying them of the ransom demand. The victims were taken during a church service earlier in the week, triggering widespread panic in the border community.
A community leader and Olori Eta of Eruku, Chief Olusegun Olukotun, confirmed the development to newsmen. He disclosed that four of his relatives were among those taken away.
Olukotun recounted that he was in the church with five members of his family when the attack occurred, noting that one of his wards narrowly escaped by jumping out through a window.
He said the kidnappers have now established contact with the community and are insisting on ₦100 million for each of the 38 abducted worshippers.
The community leader appealed to security agencies to intensify patrols and strengthen security in Eruku, which shares a border with neighbouring states, to safeguard lives and property.
