Governor Yusuf Deploys 1,600 Watchmen to Boost Security Across Kano Secondary Schools
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the deployment of 1,600 newly recruited watchmen to secondary schools across the state as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen safety and restore discipline in the education sector.
The governor also flagged off the distribution of permanent and pensionable appointment letters to the beneficiaries.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf said the deployment marks a major step in securing public schools and ensuring a stable learning environment for students and teachers.
He noted that no education system can thrive where safety is threatened, stressing that the protection of school infrastructure, staff and learners remains a top priority for his administration.
The governor explained that the watchmen will serve on the frontlines of school security, helping to monitor entrances, prevent unauthorised activities and support the smooth operation of daily academic activities.
Governor Yusuf commended the Ministry of Education and the management of the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board (KSSSSMB) for their dedication to implementing the government’s directives and reforms.
He urged the newly appointed watchmen to perform their duties with vigilance, discipline and integrity.
