Political Realignment: Kwankwasiyya Loyalists Break Ranks, Launch Kano Loyalist Forum
A group of loyalists associated with the Kwankwasiyya movement has announced a major political realignment with the transformation of the Kwankwasiyya Loyalist Forum (KLF) into the Kano Loyalist Forum (KLF).
The announcement was made by Samir Rufa’i Hanga at a press conference held in Kano, where he said the decision followed extensive consultations among members of the forum after years of loyalty, commitment, sacrifice and political struggles.
Samir, son of Senator Rufa’i Sani Hanga, who recently dumped the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and parted ways with the Kwankwasiyya movement, said the group had decided to embrace a new political direction.
He explained that despite years of dedication to the leadership of the Kwankwasiyya movement, members had reached the conclusion that it was time to chart a new course.
“After years of loyalty, commitment, sacrifice, harassment and political struggles, we believe it is time to embrace a new political direction,” he said.
According to him, effective immediately, all programmes, projects, structures, media platforms and activities previously operated under the Kwankwasiyya Loyalist Forum would henceforth be transferred to and operated under the Kano Loyalist Forum.
He said the new platform would focus on promoting unity, grassroots mobilisation, youth and women empowerment, democratic participation and the overall development of Kano State and Nigeria.
Samir expressed appreciation to members and supporters of the former forum for their sacrifice and unwavering commitment over the years.
He called on members to remain united and committed to the new political direction, describing the development as the beginning of a “new chapter with renewed hope, unity and service.”
The announcement comes against the backdrop of recent political developments involving Senator Rufa’i Sani Hanga, who recently left the Nigerian Democratic Congress and parted ways with the Kwankwasiyya movement.
The emergence of the Kano Loyalist Forum is expected to attract attention within Kano’s political landscape, particularly among grassroots political groups previously associated with the Kwankwasiyya movement.
