Gwamna’s 2027 Bid Gains Momentum as Pantami’s Adviser Resigns, Declares Support for APC Candidate

The governorship ambition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Gombe State, Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna (Sardaunan Gombe), has received a fresh political boost following the resignation of Hon. Muhammad Buhari Dalhatu, Special Adviser to Professor Isa Ali Pantami on Youth Leadership and Community Engagement.
Dalhatu, who formally tendered his resignation, also declared his support for Dr Gwamna and reaffirmed his commitment to the APC and the party’s success at all levels in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Friday and signed by Ibrahim Sani Shawai, spokesperson to Dr Gwamna, the development was described as significant, particularly given Dalhatu’s previous role within Professor Pantami’s political circle.
His decision, the statement said, adds to what it described as a growing number of individuals who previously worked closely with Pantami but have since chosen to support Dr Gwamna’s political aspiration.
Among those mentioned are Affan Buba Abuya, a former Personal Assistant to Professor Pantami; Sunusin Gombe, popularly known as Ameer, who was said to have coordinated the Pantamiyya political structure; and Dahiru Saidu Nafada, described as a close associate and influential figure in Pantami’s political journey.
Nafada has also aligned himself with Dr Gwamna, a development the statement said has attracted considerable political attention in the build-up to the 2027 elections.
According to the statement, the series of political realignments points to what it described as a changing political landscape in Gombe State, with former members and associates of Pantami’s political structure increasingly taking different political positions.
It further argued that the developments demonstrate growing support for Dr Gwamna as the 2027 political season approaches.
The Sardaunan Gombe welcomed Dalhatu’s decision and commended him for remaining committed to the APC, while expressing confidence that the party would retain its position in the state.
Dr Gwamna said the future of Gombe State should be anchored on unity, competence, experience, continuity and a commitment to consolidating the gains recorded under the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
The statement urged APC members and supporters to remain united and focused as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
