Democracy Day: Gov. Yusuf Celebrates Kano People, Highlights Three Years of Transformative Governance

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has congratulated the people of Kano State on the occasion of the 2026 Democracy Day, describing the celebration as a testament to the resilience of democratic governance and the enduring commitment of Nigerians to freedom, justice, and development.

The Governor stated that Democracy Day provides an opportunity to reflect on Nigeria’s democratic journey and renew collective commitment to the ideals of accountability, transparency, and service to the people.

Reflecting on his administration’s three years in office, Governor Yusuf noted that his government has remained steadfast in delivering the dividends of democracy through people-oriented policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare and living conditions of Kano residents.

He highlighted the declaration of a State of Emergency in Education, which has led to significant investments in school infrastructure, recruitment of qualified teachers, provision of teaching and learning materials, payment of examination fees, and sponsorship of students for higher education both within and outside Nigeria.

The Governor also pointed to notable achievements in the health sector, including the renovation and upgrading of healthcare facilities, recruitment of health personnel, and expansion of access to quality healthcare services across the state.

According to him, the administration has recorded substantial progress in road construction and rehabilitation, water supply improvement projects, agricultural development initiatives, youth and women empowerment programmes, and social intervention schemes targeted at vulnerable members of society.

Governor Yusuf further emphasized his administration’s commitment to economic growth through policies designed to support businesses, attract investments, and create employment opportunities for the people.

He expressed gratitude to the people of Kano State for their unwavering support, cooperation, and prayers, assuring them that his administration remains committed to fulfilling its campaign promises and addressing their aspirations.

The Governor called on residents to continue promoting peace, unity, tolerance, and respect for democratic institutions, stressing that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and stability.

He prayed for continued peace, prosperity, and progress in Kano State and Nigeria, while wishing all citizens a memorable Democracy Day celebration.
