Hajj 2026: Kano Deploys Round-the-Clock Medical Services for Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia
MAKKAH, Saudi Arabia, May 24, 2026 — Kano State pilgrims performing the 2026 Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are receiving comprehensive healthcare services as the state government intensifies efforts to safeguard their well-being throughout the pilgrimage period.
The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has established fully operational clinics in several hotels accommodating pilgrims, ensuring immediate access to medical care and essential drugs for those requiring treatment.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Head of the Kano State Hajj Media Team and Chief Press Secretary, Malam Mustapha Muhammad, who said the medical teams are working tirelessly to provide prompt healthcare services to pilgrims across various locations in the Holy Land.
A visit to some of the clinics revealed healthcare personnel attending to patients suffering from common ailments associated with the strenuous pilgrimage activities, including fever, joint pains and high blood pressure. Medical officers were seen providing consultations, administering treatment and monitoring patients to prevent complications.
The statement noted that the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has made adequate arrangements for the procurement and distribution of medicines, with all prescribed drugs being provided free of charge to pilgrims requiring medical attention.
Speaking with journalists at the clinic located at House Number Five, the head of the facility, Dr. Ashiru Muhammad Sumaila, said the welfare and health of pilgrims remain a top priority for the medical team.
According to him, doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers have been deployed to ensure continuous medical coverage throughout the Hajj exercise.
“We are working around the clock to attend to the health needs of pilgrims. Whenever a case requires specialised medical intervention, we immediately facilitate referral to advanced hospitals for further treatment,” Dr. Sumaila explained.
He expressed confidence in the preparedness of the medical team, noting that necessary drugs and medical supplies are readily available to meet the healthcare needs of pilgrims.
The development reflects the commitment of the Kano State Government to ensuring a safe and successful Hajj operation. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had earlier pledged to accord maximum attention to the welfare of pilgrims, particularly in the area of healthcare, emphasizing that good health is essential for the successful performance of Hajj rites.
With thousands of Kano pilgrims currently in the Holy Land, the establishment of hotel-based clinics and the deployment of dedicated healthcare personnel are expected to significantly enhance access to medical services and provide reassurance to pilgrims as they undertake one of the most important spiritual journeys of their lives.
The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has assured pilgrims that medical assistance will remain available throughout the Hajj period, urging them to promptly report any health concerns to the nearest clinic for immediate attention.
