Kano Pilgrims Board Clears All 2026 Hajj Refunds, Assures Transparency and Accountability

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has successfully concluded the payment of all outstanding refunds to intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise, reinforcing its commitment to transparency, accountability, and efficient service delivery.

The Director General of the Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, disclosed this development during an interaction with journalists, confirming that every pilgrim who initially paid the earlier Hajj fare has now received the appropriate refund balance.

He explained that the initial fare for the 2026 Hajj exercise was set at ₦8,500,000 but was later reviewed downward to ₦7,696,813. Following this adjustment, the Board promptly initiated a structured refund process, successfully disbursing the difference to affected pilgrims in approximately five batches.

Alhaji Matawalle emphasized that the exercise was carried out seamlessly, ensuring that all eligible pilgrims benefited from the fare reduction without unnecessary delays. He described the completion of the refunds as a significant milestone in the Board’s preparations for the 2026 Hajj operations.

While confirming that all outstanding payments have been settled, the Director General advised any pilgrim yet to receive their refund to first liaise with their respective banks or contact Hajj officers in their local government areas for prompt resolution.

He reiterated the Board’s dedication to safeguarding the interests of pilgrims and maintaining public trust through responsible financial management and clear communication.

With the refund process now fully completed, the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has once again demonstrated its resolve to uphold integrity and efficiency in the administration of Hajj affairs.
