Zulum’s Advisers Unite Behind Gubio, Declare Him APC’s Preferred Successor for Borno Governorship

The Forum of Special Advisers to Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has thrown its full weight behind Engr. Mustapha Gubio, endorsing him as the preferred governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the next political transition in the state.

In a strongly worded statement jointly signed by the Forum Chairman, Hon. Tijjani Goni Muhammad, and the Secretary, Hon. Haruna Ibrahim Biu, the advisers described their endorsement as unanimous, collective, and unwavering.

The Forum, made up of 38 Special Advisers drawn from the 27 local government areas of Borno State, said the decision followed what it described as a productive consultative meeting where members resolved to publicly align with Governor Zulum’s leadership direction and political judgment.

According to the statement, the advisers expressed total confidence in Governor Zulum’s choice of Engr. Mustapha Gubio as the most suitable person to carry forward the APC’s developmental agenda in Borno State.

They praised Governor Zulum for what they termed his visionary and strategic leadership, saying his decisions have consistently reflected wisdom, foresight, and a deep commitment to the progress, security, and welfare of the people of Borno.

The Forum further highlighted Gubio’s impressive record in public service, citing his previous roles as Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement, as well as Commissioner for Works and Housing.

According to the advisers, Gubio played a critical role in post-conflict recovery efforts and infrastructure expansion across the state, earning a reputation for competence, loyalty, and dedication to duty.

They described him as a tested administrator with the capacity to consolidate on the gains recorded under the Zulum administration and ensure continuity of governance.

The group also reaffirmed its loyalty to Governor Zulum, stressing that his leadership style has brought stability, development, and renewed confidence in government across the state.

They noted that every major decision taken by the governor has been guided by the broader interest of Borno people rather than personal or sectional considerations.

Calling on APC members, political stakeholders, and residents of the state to close ranks, the Forum urged all parties to support the governor’s decision in the interest of unity and sustained development.

The advisers maintained that continuity in leadership remains critical to preserving the achievements already recorded in infrastructure, peace-building, and economic recovery.

They expressed optimism that with Engr. Mustapha Gubio at the helm, Borno State would witness further peace, prosperity, and transformational governance.

The statement concluded with a renewed pledge of loyalty to Governor Zulum and a commitment to support his vision for a stronger and more prosperous Borno State.
