Gov. Yusuf Reaffirms Commitment to Women Empowerment on International Women’s Day

The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has joined the global community to commemorate International Women’s Day, reiterating his administration’s commitment to empowering women and promoting gender inclusion across the state.

This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Governor Yusuf described women as the backbone of society, noting that their contributions to family life, community development, governance and economic growth remain invaluable.

He explained that the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day underscores the urgency of accelerating efforts toward achieving equal opportunities and creating enabling platforms for women to thrive in every sector.

According to the governor, his administration remains committed to implementing policies and programmes that promote women’s education, economic empowerment, improved healthcare access and active participation in governance.

He added that the state government has continued to support initiatives aimed at uplifting women, particularly in the areas of entrepreneurship, vocational training and skills acquisition, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.

Governor Yusuf also commended women across Kano for their resilience, dedication and the vital roles they play in building strong families and communities.

He called on stakeholders, development partners and community leaders to continue supporting policies that protect women’s rights and expand opportunities for them.

The governor reaffirmed that his administration would continue to prioritise programmes that promote gender equity and ensure that women and girls across the state reach their full potential.
