Kano Tragedy: Gov Yusuf Offers Hajj, New Home to Bereaved Father, Orders Speedy Justice for Murdered Family

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved a comprehensive welfare package for the bereaved father of the six children and their mother who were brutally murdered in the Chiranci Dorayi area of Kano, pledging both immediate relief and long-term support while vowing that justice will be swiftly served.
The intervention, which includes sponsorship for Hajj and Umrah, provision of a new house, and full welfare support, was announced by the governor during a condolence visit to the family. The development was disclosed in a statement signed on Wednesday by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Governor Yusuf expressed deep sorrow over the tragic killings and assured the bereaved family of the state government’s unwavering support in helping them rebuild their lives.
As part of the rehabilitation efforts, the governor directed that a new and befitting house be allocated to the father, noting that the gesture was aimed at restoring his dignity and reintegrating him into society.
The governor further pledged that the Kano State Government would take full responsibility for the man’s welfare, including supporting him to remarry should he choose to do so, and covering all necessary requirements to enable him restart his life.
On the issue of justice, Governor Yusuf directed the Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to fast-track the prosecution of suspects already arrested in connection with the killings. He stressed that all those found culpable would face the full weight of the law.
He went further to assure that he would sign the death warrant for any individual convicted over the Chiranci Dorayi killings, adding that similar action would apply to the killers of Hanifa and the Gezawa arsonists who set several people ablaze, once their trials are concluded and convictions secured.
Governor Yusuf commended the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies for their effective collaboration and swift response that led to the arrest of the suspects involved in the crime.
In a gesture of appreciation for the government’s support, the bereaved father donated his personal house to the Kano State Government for the construction of an Islamiyya school to serve the Chiranci community.
The governor concluded the visit with prayers, asking Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and to bestow patience, strength, and lasting peace on their family and the people of Kano State.
Related Condolence Visits
In a related development, Governor Yusuf also paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Dr. Bature AbdulAziz, President of the National Patriotic Elders Forum for Peace and Unity. He described the deceased as a patriotic elder and tireless advocate for peace, unity, and national development, praying for Allah’s forgiveness and Aljannatul Firdaus for his soul.
The governor further extended condolences to Baba Umar, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Private and Voluntary Schools Board, over the death of his mother, offering prayers for comfort and fortitude for the family.
