Nasarawa Senator Resigns From PDP

Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a letter dated January 10, Onawo cited personal reasons for his decision and expressed gratitude to the party leadership, members, and supporters for their trust and cooperation over the years.
A former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Onawo has won elections five times: twice as a member of the House of Assembly representing Doma North, twice as a member of the House of Representatives representing Awe/Doma/Keana Constituency, and once as a Senator representing Nasarawa South.
The senator has been identifying with the coalition-led African Democratic Congress (ADC) since he was publicly seen attending the party’s meeting in July, 2025. He is now expected to formalise his membership of the opposition party when the Senate resumes plenary.
