Gaddafi Sani Shehu Hails Progress of New Ministry Building, Unveils Ambitious Power Projects for Kano

Kano, Nigeria — October 27, 2025:
The Kano State Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Dr. Gaddafi Sani Shehu, has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing construction of the Ministry’s permanent building located at Sharada Industrial Layout, describing the project as a major step toward improving efficiency and service delivery within the ministry.

During an inspection visit to the site, Dr. Gaddafi said that upon completion, the new structure would provide a conducive and comfortable work environment for all ministry staff, enabling them to perform their duties with renewed dedication and productivity.

He emphasized that the building symbolizes the administration’s determination to strengthen institutional capacity in the state’s energy sector, adding that the improved work environment will enhance coordination and accelerate the implementation of key power initiatives.

Highlighting the state’s broader energy agenda, the Commissioner revealed plans by the Kano State Government to establish an emergency power plant operating at a medium voltage level, alongside a mini-grid power generation facility aimed at diversifying the state’s energy sources. He further disclosed that a standalone solar power plant would also be developed as part of the government’s renewable energy drive.

Dr. Gaddafi commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to transforming Kano’s power infrastructure, particularly his focus on boosting hydropower development to attract private sector investment.

He also lauded the contractor’s dedication and quality of work, urging timely completion of the project in line with the agreed schedule.

“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s vision for the power sector is clear — to make Kano a model of energy efficiency and renewable integration in Nigeria. We are determined to see that vision come to fruition,” Dr. Gaddafi stated.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the state government’s energy diversification agenda and ensuring sustainable power supply to drive industrial growth and improve livelihoods.
