Governor Idris Approves ₦1.4bn For School Furniture, ₦900m Take-Off Grant For Bureau Of Statistics

Birnin Kebbi, October 16, 2025
Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has approved the release of ₦1.4 billion for the procurement of school furniture across the state, in a major push to enhance the learning environment and strengthen the education sector.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barrister Attahiru Maccido, disclosed this while addressing journalists shortly after the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
According to Maccido, Governor Idris — a seasoned educationist and former classroom teacher — remains deeply committed to revamping the education sector, which he described as his “primary constituency.”

He explained that the fund will help address the acute shortage of furniture in public schools both within the state capital and across local government areas, ensuring a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
In a related development, the Governor also approved ₦900 million as a take-off grant for the newly established Kebbi State Bureau of Statistics.
Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Abba Sani Kalgo, who announced the approval, said the grant will enable the Bureau to begin full operations immediately.
He added that the Bureau is expected to provide accurate, measurable, and purpose-driven data to support evidence-based policy formulation and effective implementation across various sectors in the state.
With these approvals, the Idris administration continues to demonstrate its commitment to quality education, institutional development, and data-driven governance in Kebbi State.
