Prof. Gwarzo Takes Charge as Hausa Community in Europe Names Him Chancellor

The Hausa Community in Europe has appointed Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo as its Chancellor in recognition of his contributions to the promotion of the Hausa language, culture and the welfare of Hausa communities across Europe.

 

The appointment was announced by the Emir of the Hausa Community in Europe, Alhaji Surajo Jankado, during the celebration of International Hausa Day held in Paris, France.

 

The development is being regarded as a significant step towards strengthening the unity, cultural identity and collective development of Hausa communities across Europe.

 

Speaking at the event, the Emir described the appointment as an important milestone in efforts to strengthen the leadership and collective aspirations of the Hausa community in Europe.

 

He said Professor Gwarzo’s experience in education, leadership and community development would contribute significantly to the advancement of the Hausa community and the preservation of its cultural heritage.

 

According to him, the appointment would provide an opportunity to further mobilise Hausa communities across Europe towards greater unity, cooperation and cultural consciousness.

 

In his acceptance speech, Professor Gwarzo expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Hausa Community in Europe for finding him worthy of the appointment.

 

He pledged to work with community leaders, academics, professionals, youths and other stakeholders towards promoting the Hausa language, culture, identity and unity among Hausa people living across Europe.

 

Professor Gwarzo said the new responsibility would provide an opportunity to support initiatives aimed at preserving Hausa heritage while encouraging younger generations to remain connected to their language, history and cultural values.

 

The appointment adds another dimension to Professor Gwarzo’s growing leadership role in education, human capital development and community advancement.

 

As the Founder of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) and a prominent figure in the education sector, Professor Gwarzo has continued to play roles in initiatives focused on expanding educational opportunities and strengthening human capital development.

 

The new position is therefore expected to provide another platform for him to contribute to the promotion of Hausa identity and cultural values beyond Nigeria and across the international community.

 

The International Hausa Day celebration in Paris also brought together members of the Hausa community and other distinguished Nigerians, providing an opportunity to celebrate the rich history, language and cultural heritage of the Hausa people.

 

With his appointment as Chancellor, expectations are high that Professor Gwarzo will work with community leaders, academics, professionals, youths and other stakeholders to strengthen cooperation, preserve Hausa heritage and promote the interests of Hausa communities throughout Europe.
