In a proactive move to enhance the comfort and overall experience of intending pilgrims, the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has donated metal chairs and standing fans to the Hajj Terminal at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport ahead of the 2026 Hajj operations.
The gesture, widely seen as a strategic intervention, is part of the Board’s broader commitment to ensuring seamless and hitch-free pilgrimage activities for thousands of pilgrims from Kano State.
Speaking on the development, the Director General of the Board, Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, stated that the donation was aimed at strengthening collaboration among critical stakeholders while improving facilities at the Hajj Terminal.
He emphasized that the Board remains fully committed to working closely with relevant authorities to guarantee a smooth and successful Hajj exercise, noting that the welfare of pilgrims remains a top priority.
“This intervention reflects our determination to support airport operations and ensure that pilgrims from Kano State enjoy a more comfortable and organized departure process,” he said.
In his response, the Regional General Manager of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria at Kano Airport, Musa Okikiri, commended the Board for the timely support, describing it as a significant boost to ongoing preparations.
He assured that the airport management has put in place adequate measures to facilitate smooth Hajj operations, adding that the newly donated chairs will be installed in the terminal waiting area to enhance passenger comfort before boarding.
Okikiri further disclosed that improved operational strategies have been introduced to reduce waiting time, assuring that pilgrims would spend no more than one hour at the reception area before departure.
