Alhassan Ado Doguwa Mourns Kano Tragedy as Two State Assembly Members Die Within Hours
Kano State was thrown into deep mourning following the shocking and near-simultaneous deaths of two serving members of the Kano State House of Assembly, a development that has sent waves of grief across the political and legislative landscape of the state and beyond.
The first loss was that of Hon. Aminu Sa’ad Ungoggo, the Member representing Ungoggo State Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, whose death was confirmed earlier in the day. Barely an hour later, tragedy struck again with the passing of Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji, the Member representing Kano Municipal State Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Hajj.
Reacting to the devastating news, Rt. Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, OON (Sardaunan Rano), described the incident as not only shocking but profoundly heartbreaking, noting that the loss transcends party lines, constituencies, and even state boundaries.
“As Muslims, we accept these painful losses with total submission to the will of Almighty Allah (SWT),” Doguwa said, adding that death remains an inevitable decree that tests faith and resilience.
He noted that both lawmakers had distinguished themselves through dedicated service and commitment to their constitutional responsibilities during their two years in the Kano State House of Assembly, contributing meaningfully to governance and legislative development in the state.
According to him, the deaths are not only a personal tragedy for the families and constituents of the deceased legislators but a major loss to the broader legislative institution in Nigeria, particularly at a time when experience and stability are critical to democratic consolidation.
Rt. Hon. Doguwa, who represents Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and serves as Chairman of the Northern Regional Caucus, extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the people of Ungoggo and Kano Municipal constituencies, and the entire Kano State Legislature.
He also commiserated with Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, and the remaining 38 members of the Assembly over what he described as a painful and unprecedented loss.
Offering prayers for the departed souls, Doguwa prayed that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives their shortcomings, grants them Aljannatul Firdaus, and comforts their families and loved ones during this difficult period.
The sudden loss of the two lawmakers has left a void in the Kano State House of Assembly and cast a sombre mood over the state’s political atmosphere, as tributes continue to pour in from colleagues, leaders, and citizens.
