REA Managing Director Leads High-Powered Mission to Italy as Abba Ganduje Drives Technical Engagements on Rural Electrification
The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Alhaji Aliyu Abba Abubakar, is currently leading a top-level delegation to Italy for strategic meetings aimed at expanding international partnerships and accelerating Nigeria’s rural electrification drive.
Accompanying him on the mission is the Agency’s Executive Director of Technical Services, Engr. Abba Ganduje, who is overseeing the technical consultations with global energy technology firms and development partners.
According to a statement by Ganduje’s Media Aide, Rufai Muhd Tofa, the visit is part of REA’s ongoing commitment to sourcing innovative, cost-efficient, and durable solutions that will boost electricity access across underserved and off-grid communities in Nigeria.
During the visit, the Managing Director is holding high-level talks focused on strengthening collaboration with international institutions, exploring advanced renewable energy technologies, and securing support for projects targeted at improving rural livelihoods through sustainable power supply.
Engr. Abba Ganduje is also engaging technical teams in Italy to evaluate modern electrification models that align with the Agency’s mandate and Nigeria’s broader energy transition goals.
The REA Managing Director emphasized that deepening global partnerships is crucial to bridging the nation’s rural energy gap, stimulating economic growth, and supporting small businesses, schools, health facilities, and households across remote communities.
The Italy mission underscores REA’s renewed strategic push to enhance capacity, expand infrastructure, and improve the effectiveness of rural electrification programmes through world-class solutions.
