Tinubu Nominates Dambazau, Ibas, Enang, Others as Non-Career Ambassadors

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded a fresh list of non-career ambassadorial nominees to the Senate, with former Minister of Interior and ex-Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), featuring prominently among the new names.
The latest nominations were announced on Thursday during plenary, following the reading of the President’s letter by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Also nominated is Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, the immediate past sole administrator of Rivers State and former Chief of Naval Staff. Others on the list include Senator Ita Enang, a former presidential aide, and Chioma Ohakim, former First Lady of Imo State.
The newly submitted nominees were not included in the earlier batch of ambassadorial candidates released by the Presidency, making this an additional list to be screened by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs.
According to the communication from President Tinubu, the nominees are to represent Nigeria in various diplomatic missions as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s foreign relations and advance strategic international partnerships.
The Senate is expected to announce a date for their screening and confirmation.
