Kano Deputy Governor Marks 65th Birthday with Philanthropy, School Support and Prayers in Gwarzo
The Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, on Friday commemorated his 65th birthday with a series of humanitarian and community-engagement activities in his hometown, Gwarzo. The celebration placed strong emphasis on education, social welfare and spiritual reflection.
As part of the activities, the Deputy Governor distributed educational materials—including school uniforms, books, chalks, dusters, and Islamic texts—to pupils across public schools in the area. He urged the beneficiaries to remain committed to learning and moral discipline as future contributors to the state’s development.
A special prayer session was held at the Gwarzo Central Mosque, where more than 100 Islamic scholars gathered to pray for his continued good health, long life and success in the service of Kano State.
The occasion drew prominent figures, including the Kano State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Hon. Hashimu Dungurawa; Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Hon. Sunusi Surajo Kwankwaso; local government chairmen and several senior government officials. Well-wishers also used the event to express admiration for the Deputy Governor’s public service record.
Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government, Dr. Mani Tsoho, who hosted the events, commended Comrade Gwarzo for his humility, leadership style and consistent focus on community empowerment. He prayed for Allah to strengthen him in his service to the state.
In a nostalgic highlight of the occasion, the Deputy Governor visited his former school, Gwarzo Model Primary School, where he completed his primary education 53 years ago. The visit reunited him with classmates from the 1972 graduating set, sparking memories and reflections on his journey in public service.
Comrade Gwarzo also donated relief items to widows and less privileged residents, reaffirming his long-standing commitment to humanitarian causes. He later paid a courtesy visit to the District Head of Gwarzo, Alhaji Bello Abubakar, who prayed for his well-being and presented key development needs of the community. The Deputy Governor assured him of the government’s readiness to intervene.
The day’s activities concluded with a reception at the Gwarzo Local Government Secretariat, attended by political associates, traditional leaders and residents.
In his remarks, Comrade Gwarzo expressed gratitude for the show of support and goodwill. He pledged to continue working for the progress of Gwarzo, Kano State, and Nigeria.
