About 250 students of the College of Health Science and Technology, Jega, are set to resume their classes soon, following the approval of ₦60 million by Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, for the ongoing accreditation process of the institution’s academic programmes.

The State Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar Tunga, announced this during a press conference in Birnin Kebbi.

According to him, the governor’s approval covers the accreditation of eight academic programmes by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), noting that the exercise is already in progress and nearing completion.

He added that students affected by the October 17, 2024 riot would be recalled as soon as the accreditation process concludes, to enable them to continue their studies and graduate with National Diploma (ND) qualifications.

The Commissioner further revealed that the governor also approved the renovation of students’ hostels, describing it as an integral part of the accreditation process aimed at improving learning and research environments.

Speaking earlier, the Provost of the College, Malam Hussaini Aliyu, commended Governor Nasir Idris for his unwavering commitment to the transformation of higher education in the state. He emphasized that the college management, in collaboration with the Governing Council and the Ministry for Higher Education, remains fully aligned with the governor’s vision for educational rejuvenation and institutional excellence.
