Police Arrest Two Suspected Kidnappers in Lafia

Lafia, September 29, 2025 – The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers who have been terrorizing residents of Doma and Lafia Local Government Areas.
In a statement issued to newsmen in Lafia, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ramhan Nansel, said the suspects were arrested following a report lodged by residents of Saman Laraba in Doma and others in Lafia. The victims alleged that unidentified persons had been threatening them with phone calls for over two months, demanding a ransom of ₦3 million or risk being kidnapped.
SP Nansel disclosed that investigations revealed the suspects had been contacting several residents of Doma with similar threats, some of whom had already paid ransoms.
“Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives arrested Abubakar Abdullahi of Jalti Village in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State and Abdullahi Isah of Tudun Alaramma in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State,” the statement said.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to extorting between ₦6 million and ₦7 million from different individuals in both Doma and Lafia Local Government Areas.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has ordered that the suspects be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for further discreet investigation.
He reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to fighting crime and urged residents to continue to provide timely and useful information to the police to ensure a safer society.
