Why Sunusi Bature Stands Tall Among 2027 Contenders in Dawakin Tofa, Rimin-Gado and Tofa

The politics of Dawakin Tofa, Rimin-Gado and Tofa Federal Constituency has always mirrored the broader currents in Kano: loyalty battles, factional wars, and shifting alliances. As the 2027 contest draws closer, the question on everyone’s lips is not just who will win, but who truly deserves to represent the constituency?
Let’s start with the present occupant, Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe. After several terms in the House of Representatives, his presence in Abuja has been more symbolic than impactful. He neither drives legislative initiatives that matter to his people nor sustains meaningful engagement with stakeholders back home. In a constituency yearning for voice and visibility, Jobe’s silence has become deafening.
Enter Sani Abdulkadir Dambo, a figure linked to DSP Barau Jibrin. Yet Dambo’s problem is not lack of ambition, but lack of consistency. From his history of political switches with Ganduje to his more recent friction with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, he has acquired the reputation of a political nomad — always in search of the next camp, the next advantage. That image of betrayal is not the kind of brand voters trust with their mandate.
Then there is Abba Ganduje. His ambition is understandable, given his father’s political weight. But therein lies the weakness: many voters still recall that Jobe’s 2023 victory was less an endorsement of his competence and more a punishment of the Ganduje dynasty. The sentiment that “we voted Jobe to stop Ganduje” still rings in political conversations across the constituency. Abba, unfortunately, carries that baggage into the race.
Amidst this field, Sunusi Bature D-Tofa stands apart. As Director General, Media and Publicity to the Kano State Government, he has demonstrated loyalty, accessibility, and a people-oriented vision. Unlike others who vanish after elections, Bature has remained present in the constituency — assisting party members, supporting communities, and most importantly, offering a blueprint for development. His identity as a core Kwankwasiyya loyalist also means he is anchored within a tested political movement that prizes education, empowerment, and grassroots welfare.
Politics is not just about names or connections. It is about trust, clarity, and service. Jobe is distant, Dambo is unstable, Abba Ganduje is weighed down by dynasty politics. By contrast, Sunusi Bature combines grassroots accessibility, loyalty to a cause bigger than himself, and a track record of engagement. That makes him not just a contestant, but the constituency’s best bet for 2027.
As the pendulum of Kano politics swings, one truth is becoming increasingly clear: in Dawakin Tofa, Rimin-Gado and Tofa, the road to genuine representation leads through Sunusi Bature D-Tofa.
