Bago Hails Progress in IBB Specialist Hospital Remodelling, Reaffirms Commitment to Health Sector Revival

Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger State has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing remodelling of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) Specialist Hospital in Minna, describing the project as a major step toward transforming healthcare delivery in the state.
Speaking after inspecting the expansion works on Monday, the governor commended the contractors handling the project for what he called “a thorough and impressive job.” He reiterated his administration’s resolve to revamp the state’s healthcare sector to ensure Nigerlites have access to affordable and quality medical services.
Bago recalled that his government had earlier declared a state of emergency in the health sector, a move that paved the way for the current wave of renovations, reconstructions, and remodelling of healthcare institutions across the state.
At the IBB Specialist Hospital, the remodelling has seen significant upgrades in critical areas including the Emergency and Accident Unit, General Outpatients Department, Intensive Care Unit, Doctors’ Call Rooms, Nurses’ Stations, and VIP Wards, all of which have been fully renovated and equipped with modern medical facilities.
The project also features the creation of a multispecialty clinic waiting area with three additional consulting rooms, alongside the expansion of the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Unit into a functional intensive care section.
Other completed components include the remodelling of the emergency unit and VIP wards, construction of two semi-detached two-bedroom doctors’ quarters, installation of a 42,000-litre overhead water tank, and reactivation of a motorized borehole.
In addition, the hospital has acquired vital equipment such as an Elizer machine for blood screening in line with recommendations from the Nigerian National Blood Services, a 100 KVA generator for the NNPC Multipurpose Diagnostic Centre, and a 300 KVA transformer, among several other medical machines.
Governor Bago assured that his administration will sustain the momentum, emphasizing that the transformation of IBB Specialist Hospital is only one of many projects aimed at giving the people of Niger State a revitalized health system.
