A violent confrontation between small-scale business owners and thugs allegedly led by Tudun-Wada Local Government Chairperson, Hajiya Sa’a Datu Salisu, has left several business owners injured and sparked widespread outrage. The incident occurred on Thursday when business owners gathered to discuss their grievances regarding local government policies that they claim are detrimental to their livelihoods.

The controversy began when Hajiya Sa’a ordered the demolition of small-scale businesses under the pretext of constructing a drainage system. Many business owners were left without a place to operate, and once the drainage was completed, they returned to the remaining areas to continue their legal businesses. This return led to the violent clash with the chairperson and her associates.

According to Sani Sale Tudun-Wada, a victim and local business owner, “We were simply trying to voice our concerns and seek help. Instead, we were met with violence. It’s unacceptable for our local leaders to treat us this way.” Witnesses reported that the chairperson arrived at the scene accompanied by a group of individuals described as thugs, who used physical force to intimidate and attack those present.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with community leaders and advocacy groups rallying behind the affected business owners. Local activists have demanded an immediate investigation into the actions of Hajiya Sa’a and her associates. One activist, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “This is not just about the injuries sustained; it’s about the right of every citizen to voice their concerns without fear of violence.”

They are determined to ensure that their voices are heard and that such acts of violence against citizens seeking to improve their livelihoods are not tolerated. The incident has been reported to the Kano State Police Command for investigation.

While the Tudun-Wada Local Government has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident, sources within the local government have indicated that an internal review may be initiated to address the allegations against the chairperson. As the situation unfolds, the community awaits justice and accountability.
