The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced an increase in passport application fees, effective September 1, 2025. This decision, confirmed by A.S. Akinlabi, spokesman for the Nigeria Immigration Service, is part of an effort to enhance the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport.
According to the new fee structure, the cost for a 32-page passport with a five-year validity will rise to N100,000, while the 64-page passport with a ten-year validity will now be priced at N200,000. Notably, the new fees will only apply to passport applications made within Nigeria. Nigerians residing abroad will continue to pay the existing fees of $150 for the 32-page passport and $230 for the 64-page passport, ensuring that expatriates are not affected by the domestic fee hike.
