In a significant stride towards combatting crime in Kaduna State, the Kaduna State Police Command has successfully dismantled two kidnapping gangs in separate operations, resulting in the arrest of eight suspects and the recovery of multiple firearms.
The crackdown began on February 22, 2025, when a resident of Ungwan Ninzom, Jema’a Local Government Area reported the abduction of his son, Hussaini Ibrahim, by unknown assailants. Swift police action led to the rescue of the victim on February 24, who was found with a gunshot wound. Four suspects were subsequently arrested, identified as Umar Yusuf Jabiri, Buhari Muhammad (alias “General”), Ahmadu Nasiru, and Zakari Saleh. The police recovered an AK-47 rifle and three fabricated AK-47 rifles from the suspects’ possession.
In a parallel operation on July 23, 2025, police intercepted a suspicious shipment containing a fabricated AK-47 rifle en route from Jos to Gusau, Zamfara State. Two suspects, Abdulmumin Sani and Naziru Musa, were arrested as they were receiving the illegal firearm.
Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, commended the efforts of the police operatives and reassured Kaduna residents of the command’s commitment to their safety. He emphasized that criminals would find no refuge in the state and acknowledged the ongoing support from Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetekun.
Investigations are underway, with the arrested individuals expected to face prosecution in due course.
