Akwa Ibom Police Command Disburses Over N37 Million to Families of Fallen Officers

 

 

 

In a solemn ceremony held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, the Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, CP Baba Mohammed Azare fsi, presented cheques totaling Thirty-Seven Million, Two Hundred and Eighty Thousand, Two Hundred and Ninety-Six Naira, Thirty-Six Kobo (N37,280,296.36) to the families of officers who lost their lives while serving in the line of duty.

 

The funds, issued on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, are part of the IGP’s Family Welfare and Group Life Assurance Schemes aimed at providing support to the next-of-kin of thirty-three (33) deceased officers.

 

During the presentation, CP Azare expressed profound gratitude for the generosity of the IGP and emphasized that the financial assistance would provide considerable support to the affected families. “This gesture serves as a reminder that even though our officers are no longer with us, their sacrifices and contributions to the safety of our nation will forever be cherished,” he noted.

 

The Commissioner acknowledged the IGP’s commitment to the well-being of all personnel within the Nigeria Police Force, particularly in respect to their families in times of loss. He assured those present that the police would continue to prioritize the welfare of its members and their families, affirming the force’s dedication to honoring the memory of those who paid the ultimate price in safeguarding the country.

 

CP Azare urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds wisely, ensuring that the assistance translates into tangible benefits for their households.

 

This initiative reflects the ongoing efforts of the Nigerian police to reinforce support systems for officers and their families, highlighting the organization’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel.
