Professor Jibril Aminu Dies at 85

Professor Jibril Aminu, a former Nigerian senator and diplomat, has died at the age of 85.

According to a report by DW, Prof. Aminu died on Wednesday after a prolonged illness. He passed away in Abuja.

Aminu served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States between 1999 and 2003 before representing Adamawa Central in the Senate from 2003 to 2011.

A trained cardiologist, he earned his medical degree from the University of Ibadan in 1965 and later obtained a PhD in Medicine from the Royal Post-Graduate Medical School in London in 1972.

He is survived by two wives and nine children.

His funeral is expected to take place in his hometown of Song, Adamawa State.
